STEADFAST TRAINING GLOSSARY

Definition

A resistance-training format using five sets of five repetitions on selected exercises, commonly compound lifts. Exercise choices, schedules, loading and progression differ between programs; not every exercise must use 5×5. Five work sets of five total 25 repetitions, but that arithmetic alone does not specify the weight. Choose a complete plan suited to experience, begin conservatively and follow its progression and recovery rules. Five sets can be a substantial workload and are not automatically the best starting dose for a novice.
