STEADFAST TRAINING GLOSSARY

Definition

An introductory approach to resistance exercise for adults over 40, adapted to training experience, current ability, goals and individual restrictions. This is a descriptive category, not one standardized or branded program. Begin with manageable exercise variations and gradually increase a workload you can recover from. Federal guidance recommends muscle-strengthening work involving all major muscle groups at least two days weekly; someone starting out may need to build toward that. A chronic condition may require individualized clinical guidance.
