How it works
Plate weight per side = (target total − bar weight − combined collar weight) ÷ 2. The calculator finds a combination with the fewest plates using your selected sizes. If your target cannot be built exactly, it shows the closest available total below it.
Example: A 135 lb total with a 45 lb bar and uncounted collars needs one 45 lb plate on each side.
Check your equipment
Enter the actual bar and collar weights. A 20 kg bar and a 45 lb bar are different weights. Changing units resets the example and available plates. Confirm that you have enough pairs and that the plates fit your bar before loading.
This tool calculates a setup for a weight you choose. It does not select an appropriate training weight.
