Available plate sizes

Assumes enough matching pairs of each selected size. Uncheck sizes your gym does not have.

Enter your target weight, then calculate.

How it works

Plate weight per side = (target total − bar weight − combined collar weight) ÷ 2. The calculator finds a combination with the fewest plates using your selected sizes. If your target cannot be built exactly, it shows the closest available total below it.

Example: A 135 lb total with a 45 lb bar and uncounted collars needs one 45 lb plate on each side.

Check your equipment

Enter the actual bar and collar weights. A 20 kg bar and a 45 lb bar are different weights. Changing units resets the example and available plates. Confirm that you have enough pairs and that the plates fit your bar before loading.

This tool calculates a setup for a weight you choose. It does not select an appropriate training weight.
