STEADFAST TRAINING GLOSSARY

Definition

Satiety is the feeling of satisfaction or reduced hunger that persists after eating and helps influence when you want to eat again.

What it means

Satiation is related but describes the process that brings a meal to an end. Appetite and fullness are affected by more than willpower, including food characteristics and the context in which you eat.

A practical example

A coaching exercise is to compare how two familiar breakfasts affect hunger later in the morning. Record the meal, timing and response without labeling either choice a success or failure.

Putting it into practice

A filling meal still needs to fit overall nutrition and energy needs. Use observations to plan meals that are satisfying and practical. Persistent unusual appetite changes deserve attention rather than an automatic instruction to ignore hunger.
